a rare sight! A georgeous wild Iris in the mountians of Big Sur this weekend!

Oh my! what an amazing weekend! And it continues for those of you guys who have Monday off! Joyous!!! In a few more weeks we can look forward to the springtime harvests of fresh artichokes, asparagus, green beans and fresh peas! Can’t wait! In the meantime, Winter still has its hold on the crops so I am bringing back some old favorites to get us through this upcoming rainy weather. Here they are:

Monday in Baywood: Moroccan Lentil and Shiitake Mushroom Barley

Thursday in Morro Bay and Friday in Cambira: Tempeh Chili Simmered in Amber Ale (remember folks, beer is made from wheat and wheat contains gluten), aaaaaaand Chipotle Sweet Potato with Corn (forgive me friends, the corn is frozen…but certified organic)

I look forward to seeing you all and don’t forget your jars!

Well, If you have thawed out enough to get to the market I’ll have some tasty hot soup waiting to warm you up during these chilly nights. Even the vegetables have had to toughen up during this cold spell! I’ve noticed the kale and chard has become a lot heartier and the root vegetables have aquired a thicker skin as well…those veggies, they are so smart! Im headed out to a farm off of Old Creek Road near Cayucos to see if I can get a couple hundred pounds of Butternut squash for Thursday and Friday’s soups but its possible that they may have froze during these 20 degree nights so be sure to check back for updates in case I have to make any changes.

Monday in Baywood: Green Minestrone Gnocchi and Split Pea

Thusday in Morro Bay and Friday in Cambira: Tuscan White Bean and Roasted Butternut Apple

I look forward to seeing you all and don’t forget your jars!
