Clean and green

How nice of the weather to only rain at night so we could enjoy the weekend, don’tcha think? There’s just something about spring that gets me motivated to organize, tidy up and just shift gears in general. I’m looking forward to how this translates to soup varieties in the upcoming weeks as new crops get harvested and our seasonal farmers return to market.

Farming in February

Last Friday, I did an instagram post on how it’s tough being a farmer in February. The response from the farmers confirmed my observation and even prompted a few farmers to make pleas of their own.

I’m sure I’m “preaching to the choir” here stressing the importance of supporting our local farming community because, if you are reading this blog, it’s likely you are doing just that….buuut…now, more than ever, it’s time to get preachy with your friends about shopping at our markets rain or shine. Our local farms are struggling. Big time.
In this time of uncertainties and feeling out of control, you can control one thing: where you buy your lettuce. It’s that simple. THANK YOU to those of you who come out each week despite the weather. You are a freakin’ hero. You are.

Gratitude for kindness

Dad and I, hard at work removing rocks from the barley

I just love my customers. Like seriously. You guys rock! I feed you soup but you feed my soul and for that, I am forever grateful. Soup assistant, Summer, has also picked up on this phenomenon in her short time at the soup booth and communicated to me last Friday that even if she arrives low to the market she leaves feeling uplifted at the end of her shift. The credit is with you, dear customers, thank you for your kindness.

Also, a heads up… I’m stepping away from both my personal and business facebook accounts. If you need to contact me, shoot me an email at stephanieburchiel@gmail.com. I’m also on instagram under @soupgangsta
