Fun in the sun

It was a surf and boogie board kind of weekend again on the coast! The ocean was so warm for around here and I saw whales breaching out past the lineup. Fall is just spectacular around here!

I’m looking forward to preparing some Halloween themed soups this week and hopefully things will start getting spooky towards the end of the week!

Here’s what you will find at the soup booth this week:

Monday in Baywood, Thursday in Morro bay and Friday in cambria

1. Black Bean Hominy

2. Carrot Ginger

I look forward to seeing you guys and don’t forget your jars!

Off season

Fall has arrived, central coast style! Its arguably the most beautiful time of year here and the absolute best for sunsets. I spent the weekend at the San simeon cove with friends and dog friends and witnessed some of the most gorgeous sunsets to date! I also had an encounter with a pipe fish (later identified by biologist and over qualified soup booth assistant, Brian.) I put a picture of a (not THE) pipefish at the end of this post.

Speeeeeeaking of our dear soup booth assistant, Brian, he’s leaving Wednesday for a 3 week trip to Madagascar! There he will be exploring the island and photographing Lemurs! Prepare for nothing but lemur photos on this blog in 4 weeks! Ha! I’ll have Nate and Janeane filling in while he’s gone, both of whom have gone through the rigorous training for the position 😉💜

Here’s what you will find at the soup booth this week:

Monday in Baywood, Thursday in Morro bay and Friday in cambria

1. Mushroom Barley

2. Tuscan white bean

I look forward to seeing you guys and don’t forget your jars!

The spiders were spot on!

Sure enough guys! Those tarantulas had on point spidie senses for rain prediction! How lovely was that bit of moisture!? For a mountian biker, there’s nothing better than a tacky trail (and as a mountian biker who is always in the back, it’s nice to have the dust down!)

I hope you all had a lovely weekend! Has anyone checked out the scarecrow festival in Cambria? Our Cambria farmers market has a scarecrow this year. His name is “frakencarrot” and he was created by soup booth assistant, Brian! Go check him out!

Here’s what you will find at the soup booth this week:

Monday in Baywood, Thursday in Morro bay and Friday in cambria

1. Split Pea

2. Creamy cauliflower

I look forward to seeing you guys and don’t forget your jars!

Do tarantulas really mean rain?

While out and about on my bicycle, I’ve been spotting lots and lots of tarantulas! My dad said they come out two weeks before the first rain and if that’s true, this predicted rainstorm is right on track! Fingers crossed the spiders (who my husband will pick up and move off the road, bare handed) are accurate! And time for your reminder that the soup will be there rain or shine! You can count on it!!

Here’s what you will find at the soup booth this week:

Monday in Baywood, Thursday in Morro Bay and Friday in Cambria :

1. Lentil Pumpkin

2. Roasted Sweet Pepper Bisque

(A Flummer line-up if I’ve ever seen one! )

I look forward to seeing you guys and don’t forget your jars! Also, for even MORE pictures of my dogs and bicycles and occasionally even soup, follow me on Instagram @soupgangsta. Have a great week!

Flummer

Its officially “Flummer” the season when fall and summer collide and tomatoes share tables with pumpkins, butternut squashes and grapes… corn and sweet potatoes!

It’s a s t u n n i n g time of year.

We spent more time in the ocean than on land this weekend (which is exactly how I like it) and I’m looking forward to bringing you a soup which epitomizes Flummer. Life is good!

Here’s what you will find at the soup booth this week:

Monday in Baywood park, Thursday in Morro bay and Friday in cambria

1. Sweet Potato Corn Chowder

2. Turkish Red lentil (carmelized onion, lemon and mint)

I look forward to seeing you guys and don’t forget your jars!

Ready for rain

Anyone else ready for that first rainstorm of the season? I know my mountian biking buddies are!

How’s everybody doing with the new hours at the Morro Bay farmers market? It’s been a bit challenging from my end to adjust but adjust I shall! I hope it’s taking some stress off the farmers trying to make it to the downtown SLO market in time.

Here’s what you will find at the soup booth this week:

Monday in Baywood, Thursday in Morro Bay and Friday in Cambria:

1. Moonstone Chili (I named it that cause I think the beans I use (black beans, adzuki beans and beluga lentils) look like the rocks of moonstone beach)).

2. Creamy Broccoli (cause it’s been a while and it sounded real good! )

I look forward to seeing you guys and don’t forget your jars!

Thanks to the newbees!

Huuuuuge thank yous to Nate and Janeane for filling in at the soup last week! They will be on for one more week and then Brian returns from New Zeland!

The countdown for fall begins now but I’m squeezing in every summer soup I possibly can before the season ends.

Here’s what you will find at the soup booth this week:

Monday in Baywood, Thursday in Morro bay and Friday in cambria:

1. Coconut curried lentil (that’s the one with the raisins)

2. Minestrone gnocchi

I look forward to seeing you guys and don’t forget your jars!
