Bees

So I don’t want to sound like I live this super dramatic life where crazy things happen constantly buuuuut…there I was…. dropping down from the top of San Simeon Creek road on my bike and I hit a swarm of bees. I could feel that I had been stung but was unaware of just how many stingers I was dealing with so I pulled over and was able to pull out two, then a few more miles down the road I got one more and finally by the time I arrived at home I had five stinger souvenirs from my ride and an ear the size of…well…a very large ear. In my life before soup, I was a beekeeper but quit because my reaction to bee stings was getting more intense so needless to say, I knew I was in for a weekend full of benadryl and ice. Thankfully, everything worked out (except for those five bees) and my ear has regained is normal size and color and I’m all set to make soup!

Here is what you will find at the soup booth this week:

Monday in Baywood, Thursday in Morro Bay and Friday in Cambria

1. Mike’s Vegetable Barley (who is Mike? Mike is a math professor who decided that the name “vegetable barley” was boring so he requested it be changed to something more exciting. This was about 4 years ago and it’s been “Mike’s Vegetable Barley” ever since.
