What is going on?!

If you looked outside or on social media today you may have noticed an unwelcome guest lurking. Smoke. Thickest I’ve seen and a somber reminder of what our neighbors to the south are tackling right now.

I’ve interviewed a few farmers about their irrugation situation given the lack of rainfall. While many (including my own family’s farm) are having to keep irrigation on longer into the season than they would have liked, no one was fearful of being out of water (at this time) like they were 2 years ago in December. Regardless, we are in an uneasy situation and if you are anything like me, seasonably inapropreate weather makes you uncomfortable.

Here’s to staying positive, living and eating sustainably and remaining hopeful.

Here’s what you will find at the soup booth this week:

Monday in Baywood and Thursday in Morro Bay and Friday in Cambria

1. Butternut barley

2. Turkish Red lentil

I look forward to seeing you guys and don’t forget your jars!
