Its tomato time!!

In the world of soup, we love our tomatoes…espicially the vine ripened heriloom ones! A perfect combination of sweet and acid, tomatoes are the ingredient in my favorite soups in the line up. I frequently am asked who, at the farmers market, has the best tomatoes. In my opinion, during the summer, you can’t top Jorges heirlooms. Jorge grows 100 % organic produce including kiwi, walnuts, stone fruits, and of course, heirloom tomatoes. Feel free to ask me where he is in the market and Im happy to point him out to you…he doesn’t go to cambria though. My favorite tomatoes in Cambria are Mike Lemachers or Peacock Farms (I especially love thier “softies” bin for 1/2 price). Heres what some heirloom tomatoes are going to find themselves a part of this week:

Monday in Baywood: Moroccan Lentil and Gnocchi Minestrone

Thursday in Morro Bay: Tomato Bisque and Turkish Bride

Friday in Cambria: Tomato Bisque and Turkish Bride
